Max, named after Maximus from the movie Gladiator.  Name totally inappropriate - a very affectionate cat but totally scared of anything unfamiliar, thinks the door bell is a hideaous monster alert and requires his immediate retirement to the wardrobe in our main bedroom.

Harley.  AKA "Madam Inspector" cat with attitude, when she wanta a cuddle she wants it now.  Has to check out anything that is going on, visitors, repair men, new furnture, you name it.

Sibling Chatty

You all know my boys from my avatar.

Preston is ill, and is at the vets for observation.

Possibly a polyp, possibly prostate cancer.

Very sorry to hear that chatty. You have my sympathies. Hope you are OK. Funny but Preston has been there on message boards since I have in a number of (dis)guises and that is very sad news.

My heart goes out to you Chatty, sending spiritual and virtual bouquets your way, you are in my thoughts.
Unity is Strength. Knowledge is Power. Attitude is Everything.

Opsa

I'm sad about this.

At least we know he was well-loved.

Sibling Chatty

Thank you all, and thank you for the virtual candles as well.

Spencer is confused. He doesn't remember life without Preston, since Preston was born shortly after he was a year old. (Spencer's first birthday was spent being a Stud Puppy.)

Preston was 10, so Spencer's 11. And, although he was 10, he still had the baby dog look, that puppyish face, not a Big Schnauzer look at all.

I desapair that he died alone, in a wire cage, but he had a better chance there than here. We just lost too much time trying to get him in to the vet school clinic, where his records were.

Love your pets while you have them. They don't have the timespan we do, and it hurts when they're gone.

Preston died last night.

I am so very sorry to hear that Chatty.

If you believe as I do, you know that Preston will be waiting for you at "Rainbow Bridge" when you die, so you can take him to Heaven with you.

JUST HERE but sometimes THERE!

Sibling Chatty

Thatk you all. And Joe, I know he'll be there. He's getting reaquainted with my Rudy (Red Cocker) that he met when he was just a puppy, back when he and Spencer belonged to my late friend, Rick.

I never had children. My babies have all been canine. Pressy was the BabyDog, though. At age 10, he still looked like a pup, and was my snugglebaby.

Dearest Chatty,

I am so sorry about your loss.  Remember always that your friends are thinking of you even in this time.  Yes we know that our pets are not really people, but in so many ways they are.  I know that you have done your best for your little dog and I sincerely hope that our love and support helps you to carry on.  The pain of losing a pet never really goes away, but I have found it best to remember all the little fun things you did together and consider the balance of the whole life, not just its end.

With deepest sypathy,

Dogperson update.

Spencer's still curious about what's going on, but isn't as apprehensive as he was at first. He's very insistent that Mommy and Daddy be in the same room, if possible, or both in view. It's gotten past the having to shower with the bath door open so he can lay in the doorway and watch the person not bathing--the alternative being that he's sit on whichever side of the door and knock on it until it was opened.

He's always been the more easy-going of the two boys, and a better traveler, so we've been taking him with us in the car. He's learned to spell leash, and he's gotten very set on certain ritual things at certain times. (That the Post Office is closed on Sunday perturbs him greatly.) He's manipulating Mom and Dad into spoiling the Dog even more that previously. And that's OK with Mom and Dad.

The cat(s) across the street (Helper Cat nad Baby Helper Cat) both have a habit of visiting Preston's grave, laying next to it for an hour or so at a time. It's a part of the yard they'd never been attracted to before, and the smaller of the two comes from that corner and rubs against my legs and cane when I come out. The big one, who is much too mature for that lovey kitten stuff, sits next to me on the steps and studiously avoids looking at Spencer. He's a dog, you know, and to Helper Cat, obviously not quite on the same social level as a cat.

Spencer was raised by a cat, so he doesn't get upset. Baby Cat even plays with him. We have a Peaceable Kingdom. If only humans could behave as well.

I'm very sorry to read of Preston's passing, it causes me to think of good ole Fritz(the cat),a tabby.I don't know how old he is, his previos caretaker had him for five years,he has been with me for three and half years and he is everybodies pal.

Always the gentleman but has a disdain for dogs( he thinks them uncouth and rude).
KitKat is the newest addition, a most beautiful calico that was abbandoned along with another tabby in an appartment building we were moving a freind into last April.I could only take one and i hope the other cat found a loving home.
KitKat is quite a handful being only 14 months or so old,she hid for two weeks crying continously and hidding from Fritz the first few week.
Now she jumps him when his tail is turned and they chase each other when humans arn't about.Fritz sleeps in a little cardboard box with a warm blanket a cardboard roof by the radiator most of the time now and is just being to venture out now that tempertures are more ageeable to him.
KitKit however sleeps on my bed and doesn't mind the cold at all( she has one thick coat.
I live on a busy street which gives Kit many people to suck up to.She ruds up to any and everone one to get a belly rud even in sub zreo temperatures.
The little school girls(and big ones) look for her every day to and from school. Many people have actually taken her home(she loses ever collar)but she finds her way back.Fritz is too sensible to be out in bitter cold and knows what traffic is all about, this is very trying for me as it is impossible to get him into a container for a vet visit,so i pit him on my shoulder and walk to to the vet.
Kitkat will follow me anywhere and i mean anywhere.
So for i've had to fetch her six times from the shelters when some kind soul finds her trying to catch birds on the road( a very busy street, tens of thousands of cars per day.To get her to the vet all one has to do is walk there and open the door for her.

Fritz eats a sensible diet of kibble and raely touches tuna after i mentioned albacore wasn't safe any longer.KitKit loves tuna and chicken, popcorn, chips, cream, beef, pork and a litany of other things much to my consternation, but i'm happy to report that she taken a liking to kibble when nothing else is set out for them. One cannot have a meal in peace when she is about.Fritz however is the perfect genleman and will not jump on tables.KitKat however...
