The doctor is given HUGE amounts of money to give "continuing education" lectures to OTHER doctors at expensive resorts, and of course the pharmaceutical company picks up the bills for ALL of it, including "spouse programs". The exact amount of the 'fee' paid the speaker depends on exactly how bad the medication is and how willing the doctor is to completely pimp himself for a lousy $50,000 or so. Incidentally, the US consumer and his insurance company will pick up the tab for these expenses, and the totally useless drug will NOT be flogged elsewhere at the cost of $300 or more a month to the unsuspecting patient.
