Cross thread fertilisation should be encouraged at all times. It is the more interesting version of going off topic and tends to be easire to re-rail!

seriously, having read some harry potter - 1 and 2 - this sounds like a rather desperate plea to try to convince the 2% of people in the world who have not brought the last 37 books to go out and buy them because they might have missed the "deeper meanings".

I found the first two pretty meh, the rest improve (still better things for adults to read, but I liked 'em overall).  Agree on the "publicity stunt" aspect of the timing, but I also think it was wise to wait until the series was finished and soundly sold to make the announcement.  Now she can comfortably thumb her nose at the backlashers.
WWDDD?

At least Tokien did not insinuate that there was something immodest going on between Frodo and Sam.

Wouldn't have occurred to him; such things are unheard of at Oxford.

I have a sneaking suspicion that a DVD entitled this actually exists.

The problem is that that stupendously wealthy one trick pony has run out of ideas (it stopped at one) and is casting around for ways to keep a fading star in the media limelight. I assure you that (provided we have not finally wiped the human race off the face of the planet) the Hobbit and the very Hungry Caterpiller will still be being read when every copy of HP has gone to landfill.

but i may be missing the deeper meanings!

I doubt that will happen. It just doesn't have that ring that calling someone 'gaylord' does. And additionally, it implies that one reads, which is considered an offense by some people.

I actually felt that this all came a little late, as Lambi said. The series is over, and it detracted from her and the books that she waited so very long.

I do not own it (the available Region 2 DVD is heavily abridged and without the extras of the Region 1) and have not (yet) seen it, only read an in-depth review.

Which one's Bilbo?

Let me guess Swato, you were hunting for a documentary on Bach and just had an unfortunate choice of search terms?
