Dippi the rabbit died today. He was my best friend and I am terribly sad.

To the kind of events in Paris today?

I live in a city with a 25% Muslim population... I have many Muslim friends... Yet I find myself having terrible reactionary responses these days... And then hate myself for them. It sometimes feels like the world is shaping up some terrible clash of ideologies and I don't share any of them.

Current Events / Pauline Cafferkey
January 03, 2015, 10:47:32 PM
Spare a thought for this brave lady today. She went to Sierra Leone as a nurse to fight the Ebola outbreak and tonight is deteriorating fast with the disease in a London hospital. My brother and his wife flew with her yo Sierra Leone and flew back with her. Like all the medics they expected to be safe but knew there was a risk. Dom is intending to do a second stint in a few weeks time.

I hope she gets better and I hope this does not put people off helping.

Snark and Rant / having to apply for your own job
February 28, 2008, 10:09:49 PM
for flipping blinking blubbers sake I have just spent 2 hours writing an application form to be me. to manage a whole programme I (YES I! GOAT!) INVENTED, developed and made work and have spent the past 4 years managing (INCIDENTALLY winning several national awards and a place in the folklore of regeneration in the process!)

I hope they dont give it to me so i can watch some other poor sod trying to do the incredibly complex job I do for almost no money in a place where nobody appreciates you anyway..... and watch them screw it up completely!

:censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored:

bloody bring on the revolution I say! there are plenty of lamposts out there that would look 1000 times better with the right bureaucrats and capitalist swine hanging off them!

We could have a competition... a bit like britain in bloom... to see which town can gaily festoon itself with the most sttractive swinging corpses!

AS YOU CAN SEE THIS HAS NOT PISSED ME OFF ONE LITTLE BIT!

Politics / US military spending and the 2nd amendment
February 27, 2008, 12:26:29 PM
US military spending dwarfs that of other countries but are the figures underestimating the true level of expenditure.

http://www.globalissues.org/i/military/country-distribution-2005.png

The 2nd Amendment says that

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

I read this as saying that it was the need for local militaias to protect the state that created the constitutional right to bear arms as part of a "militia". This being the case then surely all domestic purchases of weaponry should be factored into the US defence spending. That is around 200 million firearms in private hands.

I do hope we can discuss this point without admin deciding that it is too contentious like sensible adult human beings!

Miscellaneous Discussion / TROLLS.............
December 18, 2007, 01:39:32 PM
As a fully paid up Goat I am naturally concerned about the influence of trolls.

it has recently come to my attention that the david abrahams saga has some worrying issues

are they by any chance related? i think we should be told!

Reading winnie the pooh. I am Eyore without a doubt. But it just would end up that way wouldn't it. I suppose it was the best I could expect and I doubt if it is likely to change  :D

so who are you... if you need inspiration read the books. they are a delight (of sorts... if anything can be called that nowadays)

or read the tao and the te (of Pooh and Piglet - they get all the attention whilst the rest of us do all the work and never complain to anybody)

If you think some character from elsewhere really fits the A N OTHER button awaits.

PS. THIS IS PROPER WtP NOT THAT DISNEY TRAVESTY!!!

Games and Jokes / Fight Club!
July 23, 2007, 03:28:35 PM
need to relieve a bit of tension? stuck in a dead end job? Fancy demolishing capitalism using soap? join fight club! The rules are simple....

1st RULE: You do not talk about FIGHT CLUB.

2nd RULE: You DO NOT talk about FIGHT CLUB.

3rd RULE: If someone says "stop" or goes limp, taps out the fight is over.

4th RULE: Only two guys to a fight.

5th RULE: One fight at a time.

6th RULE: No shirts, no shoes.

7th RULE: Fights will go on as long as they have to.

8th RULE: If this is your first night at FIGHT CLUB, you HAVE to fight.

so without further ado.......

Goat stands in the centre and awaits his first adversity. his toned torso (we can dream!) shines in the sodium lighting. who will step up to the plate? .................

Serious Piratin' / Pirate Ship
June 24, 2007, 07:15:21 AM
avast me hearties! It may sound peculiar and unlikely but i am spending the rest of today building a pirate ship for Bradford Mela

http://www.bradfordmela.org.uk/

it is basically a two dimensional model about 8ft long with some sand and treasure chests in front and kids will get to dress up as pirates and have their picyure taken .

Any startling ideas of other things that might be good let me know!

cheers

Forum Stuff / Membership

what ho ladies and gentlemen,

casn i have your thoughts on membership of the monestary viz...

a)do we have enough people to be 'sustainable'

b) if no, how can we attract the right people to come for a visit and hopefully end up running he place

my view would be that one of the plus points of the venganza site was a lot of new faces.
