... whenever I hear the word "equinox", I picture a mythical creature along the lines of the esquilax, except half-horse/half-oxen.

Just thought I'd share that with the group.

I don't know why, but the word "equinox" makes me thinking of eggs.

It's a mystery to me why...

At least the English spelling makes me think of horses (equus, equi, m.).
The German (not a common word) Aequinoktium doesn't. The actually used word is Tagundnachtgleiche (lit. dayandnightsame)

Equinox. If you're my 10 year old neighbor, it makes sense. Equal-night. Day and night are equal.

On a sidenote, it doesn't look like spring around here, after 15-19C last week, it's snowing all night already...
