Niiiice! Is that kid really that clueless not to figure the consequences?

I don't know what bothers me most, if the throne of England has the sensitivity of a backhoe or that in a BBC poll the majority of respondents thought it was a 'non issue'.

Can't lie, don't mind militias. They're just going to far.

That's what militias do. Every group with a grudge against ANYBODY else forms a militia. Then, the testosterone kicks in, and they have to be the BEST at being whatever they think they're for, or against, or whatever. And then...testosterone poisoning sets in and you have assorted different morons all trying to be Lead Dog, but with weapons.

Recipe for disaster, especially once weapons laws are broken, and you get the heavily testosterone-laden Three Initial Agencies involved. Especially now, with a rogue white House...

Bear in mind that the liberal media in the UK is always watching the royals in order to run them down or pick up on any indiscretions.

For example Channel 4 News did a "Nobody cares the Queen Mother's" dead report, shortly before crowds were queueing round the clock for a week to pay their respects.  Then they did a "Nobody's bothered about the Jubilee" report just before a million and a half people were belting out the National Anthem in the Mall (not the shopping centre).  Then they did a "Prince of Wales/Diana butler case is a major constitutional crisis" line for ages (nobody I know gave a toss about it).

So what if the bloke, (for whom WWII was ancient history), showed a lapse of judgement.  He still got through Sandhurst (not very likely if he was just a spoiled brat) and was prepared to go and be shot at for his country in a war started by politicians who hate him, and who aren't noticeably sending their own offspring.

So I'm not surprised Middle-England thinks it's a non-issue. I'm a bit more surprised a BBC poll shows this.  BBC forums tend to be more younger/left than the nation as a whole.  Maybe it's youth solidarity saying "lighten up".

Is it just I am having a bad hair day or are you trying to provoke me as well as Goat now?

Not intentionally. Just suggesting there's a possible interpretation of the poll results, not obvious from abroad, which seems preferable and more likely than seeing fascists everywhere.

Lots of youngsters wear "CCCP" or Hammer and Sickle T-shirts and insignia. Do we haul them up and give them a hard time about the gulags? Of course not, we recognise they're just fashionistas playing around with imagery.  If young men had good judgement, they'd be old men.

The phrase "liberal media" in almost any country is an oxymoron.

Present day media is (in non-mid-armed-revolution countries) corporate owned, corporate controlled. They may have a more "scandal sheet" approach, but the corporate ownership will insure that there aren't too many subversive populist ideas.

And not forgetting The Observer. Which today informed me that I will shortly be eligable for a means tested pay out for elderly care needs so that I can suit myself as to what I want to pay for instead of having my life organised by the local council...... I suspect it failed to point out that there may be a discrepency between the funds allocated to/by the councils and the funds they may be prepared to hand over to me, should I qualify.

I recommend getting hold of any of the Dispatches programs on Channel 4 to anyone wanting to argue the toss. It's been one long series of misery and injustice for the masses and enough to make anyone want to overthrow all government of any flavour in favour of human kindness.

Other than that, shall we leave it at:

I guess the trick is that -as impractical it is- communism is idealist despite all the awful things done in its name (analog with religion BTW), while National Socialism (aka, nazism) had a number of very violent and repressive ideals. A 'fashion' than embraces nazism is almost universally considered negative with the exception of those who call themselves nazis.

Nah,  I'm just over the bridge from the Milton Tesco.

I'll be slightly surprised if they get planning permission as Cambridge is already one of the towns identified as having lots of peripheral Tesco mega-stores.

On the other hand, is there a choice of supermarkets left in the centre for those without cars?  Think there was only Sainsbury when I worked in the city. Unless you trekked up Castle Hill to Aldi on Histon Road. Slightly surprised the left is picking on Tesco rather than all those exclusive designer watch/fashion shop/delicatessens which dominate the centre.

P.S. Goat obviously hasn't been keeping up to date with Archers' plots recently ;)
