This handout from the Statens Naturhistoriske Museum (SNM) shows a mermaid skeleton placed on the rock where Copenhagen's famous 'Little Mermaid' statue habitually sits, as an April Fool joke. The Little Mermaid statue is on its way to Shanghai for the World Expo.

I was in Copenhagen about 20 years ago.  While I was there, someone tried to steal the Little Mermaid.  They managed to saw part way through the base, but fortunately didn't succeed.
